Expert SPFs for You
Tried & Tested on Real (Willing) Humans
We owe it to the amazing 400!
We asked a little over 400 skincare enthusiasts to test out our SunScoop sunscreen formulations before they hit the market. These enthusiasts had varying skin types, choices, and expectations.
Here's what they had to say.
We Have a Long No List
One word our scientists swear by is SAFETY.
SPFs are known to be filled with harmful chemicals to give the desired results. But what's protection if the formulation itself isn't protected.
In our Lab, SPF has 2 full forms, one, Sun Protection Factor, and the other, Safe and Protected Formulations
Research Led, SPF Essentials
We're India's First and Only SPF Focused Brand with a simple mission:
To educate everyone about the importance of wearing sunscreen daily.
Everytime one uses skincare products enriched with actives, a percentage of these actives enter the bloodstream. Penetration of these actives at unregulated concentrations can cause skin ailments in the long run which might be unknown and unseen today.
At SunScoop, we ensure that only the right ingredients backed by constant research and safety profile are used in our products that promise to protect your skin against the sun's wrath, (and gadgets-emitted blue light) while tackling common skin woes.
WEAR. SUNSCREEN. DAILY.
Q: Why do I need to wear sunscreen?
A: Wearing sunscreen every day is the best decision you'll make today as it not only acts as a protective layer around the skin (blocking the harmful radiations) but also protects the skin from premature aging, sun spots, fine lines & wrinkles, sunburns, etc.
If you want to look young & fab in your 40s, then start using one already!
Q: When should I apply sunscreen?
A: You should apply sunscreen every day as the last part of your skincare routine; after layering your skin with all sorts of products.
Even if you are not a skincare guru, make sure you are applying sunscreen daily!
Q: Should I apply sunscreen even if I'm indoors?
A: Hell yes. The sun waits for no one and starts doing its 'dirty' work as soon as it rises in the morning.
Q: How much sunscreen should I ideally use?
A: About two fingers' worth of sunscreen should be your goal. That's not all, make sure you reapply it every two hours.
Q: I am using a lotion with SPF in it. Should I top it off by applying sunscreen?
A: YES! your fave body lotion/face moisturizer may contain sunscreen but the main question is, "how much?"
If you really want sun protection, then applying a sunscreen is mandatory as a skincare product with SPF is rarely as strong as a sunscreen itself.
Q: How do I determine which SPF does my skin need?
A: It depends on a variety of possibilities; how long are you going to be under the sun, will you be near a water body and also, what's your skin type?!
Regardless of your sunscreen choice, always reapply it every two hours.
Q: Are SunScoop sunscreens Oxybenzone-free?
A: Yes! In fact, we have a long 'no-list' of harmful ingredients that we've refrained to use in our products. Some of those ingredients are Formaldehyde, Homosalate, Octobenzene free, Sulphate, Paraben, Alcohol, etc.
We want you to feel safe when using our Sunscoop products as a daily habit.
Q: Can I apply SunScoop sunscreen before makeup?
A: Definitely! Our Sunscoop sunscreens are quick-absorbing and can totally be applied before putting on makeup.
Q: Are SunScoop products vegan?
A: Yes! In fact, all our SunScoop products are dermatologically tested, cruelty-free, and free of other nasties that do more harm to the skin than good.
Q: Which SunScoop sunscreens are coral reef safe?
A: All of them! Our long No List of ingredients ensures that all our products are reef safe.
Q: Are SunScoop Sunscreens water & sweat resistant?
A: Yes and no.
Based on their formulations, all our Sunscoop sunscreens are different from each other; some being sweat & water-resistant and others not. Check out the product page of your preferred sunscreen to know more!
Q: Do Sunscoop Sunscreens have any silicone?
A: Yes and no. Check out the product page of your preferred sunscreen to know more!
Our sunscreens with silicone: Since we only used high-grade ingredients in our formulations, we can assure you that it won’t harm your skin in any way. Silicones do not directly clog pores but may trap other comedogenic ingredients which may cause acne. We recommend washing your face thoroughly in the PM to ensure nothing stays on your face.
Q: Are SunScoop Sunscreens safe for pregnant women and lactating mothers?
A: Yes, to-be moms and new moms can safely use our sunscreen. However we always recommend that you consult with your doctor first.
Q: Are SunScoop Sunscreens Photostable?
Q: What is SPF, exactly?
A: SPF= Sun Protection Factor.
This basically tells you how long a person can remain under the sun after applying their sunscreen.
For example, if you are wearing a sunscreen with SPF 15 and your skin can tolerate the sun rays for 10 minutes, then you can stay under the sun for about 150 minutes more without burning.
Regardless of the SPF level, we highly recommend reapplying your daily sunscreen every two hours.
Q: What are UVA/UVB rays?
A: UVA: UVA is a long-wavelength UV that accounts for up to 95% of the solar UV radiation that's reaching the earth's surface.
It can penetrate into our skin, causing premature aging (fine lines, wrinkles, etc.) and even photoaging. UVA rays are present in the rays that touch our skin during the daytime, especially during the winters.
UVB: UVB rays are present all year long. They are responsible for other skin concerns such as skin tanning, burning and even accelerates the skin aging process.
Furthermore, UVB rays are also responsible for the development of skin cancer.
